Explanation
Lineart refers to motifs that rely on outlines, lines, and reduced details. In machine embroidery, these designs are usually built with running stitch, light outline stitching, or layered sketch-like lines.
Advantages
Lineart files are often faster to stitch than dense filled designs, use less thread, and create a light visual effect. They work well for modern illustrations, lettering, simple motifs, and scribble-style designs.
What to watch for
Because every line is visible, small shifts are easy to notice. Fabric, stabilizer, thread tension, and stitch direction should fit the project. Stretchy fabrics usually need more stable support so outlines do not become wavy.
Lineart is not the same as a simple vector image. The artwork still needs to be digitized so the machine knows how to stitch it.
