Explanation
Redwork is an embroidery style where the design is built mostly from lines instead of filled areas. Traditionally, these motifs were stitched in red thread, which explains the name. In modern embroidery files, redwork can be stitched in any thread color.
Characteristics
Redwork files often use running stitch, backstitch-like lines, or light outline stitches. This keeps the stitch count low, reduces stitching time, and gives the design a hand-drawn look. Unlike full stitch, redwork does not cover the fabric with dense thread.
